2007 marks the 100th birthday of one of the world's most beloved designers, Charles Eames. To celebrate Vitra is producing the ledgendary Eames Elephant - for the first time ever - in a limited edition.

In the early 1940's, Charles & Ray Eames developed a method for moulding plywood into complex three-dimensional shapes, a technique they applied to sculptural objects as well as furniture. The Eames Elephant has since become a ledgend among collectors; only two prototypes were created, both of which were subsequently displayed in an exhibition at the New York Museum of Modern Art.

Made from moulded maple plywood in a natural or red stain.
