eames® sofa compact Designed by Charles and Ray Eames
The Eames sofa compact works perfectly where bulkier, more traditional
sofas don't. It's a natural fit for alcove, vestibule, study, or
nook. Its striking profile and crisp, light scale evolved from a built-in
sofa that Charles and Ray Eames had designed for the living room of their
Pacific Palisades home; they found it so comfortable and adaptable that
they decided to develop it further. Like most of their ideas, it was a
good one, and Herman Miller has been manufacturing it for 40 years. With
two foam pads along the angled back and a foam seat cushion, it provides
firm, flexible support from shoulders to knees, with all the comfort
usually associated with long, low, and heavy sofas. Fabric-covered, two-and-a-half-inch-thick molded urethane foam cushions.
Full range of upholstery options except leather. Fabric-reinforced rubber
webbing seat cushion support; spring support system. Steel bar frame and
spreaders; chrome-plated legs; adjustable stainless steel glides with
rubber base.
