risom dining and side tables
Designed by Jens Risom, 1941

In 1941, Knoll introduced its first line of modern furniture designed primarily by Jens Risom. The clean lines of his dining and side tables are a perfect, understated (and quite functional!) addition to any decor, and the oft-imitated amoeba coffee table is the perfect centerpiece for an evening at home with friends. While many of his contemporaries were experimenting with advanced materials such as metals and plastics, Risom choose -- as he usually did -- to execute the design in wood. "People need wood," he said.

Legs and aprons are solid maple hardwood with mortise and tenon joints. Tops are clear maple veneer with cathedral pattern with poplar cross bands and backing. Core and edge is solid maple hardwood lumber in clear finish.
